The difference with 4G boxes is that 4G boxes can only be packed in the same way it was during testing – ie. the exact type/number of inner packages need be assembled inside the outer package. If the 4G package was tested with 2 L metal drums, then you can only use the 4G box to pack 2 L (or less, like 1 L) metal drums. You wouldn’t be able to use the 4G box to pack plastic inners (I.e. bottles).

Be mindful of this when you are looking to purchase UN 4G(V) packaging, as the packer/shipper you are responsible for ensuring you use the correct packaging.

Listening to the needs of the market and our own experiences with Dangerous Goods packaging and packing, we have designed and tested a new size for our smallest dangerous goods fibreboard box.

The new box dimensions provide you with more space for products, void fill or absorbent materials, to ship your dangerous goods more safely and securely.

Inner size (approximate): 25 x 25 x 38 cm
Outer size (approximate): 26 x 26 x 40 cm
Maximum allowable Gross Weight: 9kg
Tape used during testing: cross woven filament tape: 48mm

UN specification Fibreboard Box 4GV/X9 for your dangerous goods packing for air, sea and road transport. Approved and tested packaging. For Solids or Inner Packagings.

The letter “V” following the packaging code, signifies articles or inner packagings of any type for solids or liquids may be assembled and transported without testing in an outer packaging.

Assembly instructions must be followed for the intended (and tested/approved) use of the packaging. Packing instructions are printed on the box.

Tape to be used: minimum of 48mm cross woven filament tape (can be purchased from the shop).
